Herbert Rittlinger (1909-1978) is one of the forerunners of the modern nude photography in Germany. The books "The nude" and "The new Act" became known. The Leipzig-born skilled Goldsmith suggested since 1930 with interruptions as adventurers and kayak  and kayakers around the world. It published numerous travelogues and novels. The nonfiction book "The new school of canoe sport" is still regarded as a standard work.
