Narahara, Ikko - Maison Européenne de la Photographie NEW wrapped in plastic!!

Who is Ikko Narahara? Less known in France than other Japanese photographers of his generation - he was born in 1931 - like Eikoh Hosoe whom he once rubbed shoulders with, he nevertheless has behind him an abundant and very diversified body of work. Having made frequent trips to Europe and the United States, his photography bears witness to the pronounced interest that the cultured Japanese man has in the Western world, particularly in his art and thought. However, if we often retain from Narahara his images of America, his first works, which date back to the 1950s and are of a documentary nature, tell us about post-war Japan, a country that barely overcame the hardships that the people had just gone through.
