In the most extensive exhibition ever of Leonard Freed's work (1929 - 2006), the versatility of this committed photographer immediately catches the eye. On the one hand he focuses on themes such as war, revolution, unhappiness and poverty, while on the other hand he focuses on everydayness: friendship, love and the mystery of birth and death. Freed has published more than a thousand photographs in numerous important international magazines and newspapers, such as Der Spiegel, Der Stern, London Sunday Times, l'Express and Libération. Many of his shots have become icons of photography history.
