Giacobetti, Francis - Los Companeros Del Che (New in plastic!) (XXL-book!)

€ 34,00

Thirty years after the death of Che Guevara (1928-1967), a score of comrades-in-arms, friends and intimates, including his widow, Aleida March, agreed to contribute to this work in his memory. From the most humble to the most eminent, the witnesses in this book remember Che the man and leader. Their accounts are presented alongside original documentary photographs and a series of portraits by international photographer, Francis Giacobetti.

Francis Giacobetti (born July 1, 1939 in Marseille) at the age of 18, he discovered photography and was hired as an assistant to Maurice Tabard who was then at the head of the photo studio for Marie Claire magazine and worked on the fashion pages for many couturiers of the 1950s, such as Pierre Balmain, Madame Grès and Elsa Schiaparelli. He was interested in new color processes and, at the age of 20, he was appointed “color consultant” of Paris Match.

He then met Daniel Filipacchi four years later and became a reporter then photographer and artistic director for Lui magazine and also worked for Playboy from the 1960s to the 1980s. He was the photographer for the Pirelli calendar in 1970 and 1971.

Subsequently turning away from the erotic photos, he was sent by Paris Match to photograph personalities for the magazine, such as Fidel Castro, Mikhaïl Gorbatchev or even Gabriel Garcia Marquez1. In 1984, he began a series of celebrity photographs that included more than 200 subjects, such as Federico Fellini, Stephen Hawking, Francoise Sagan, Philippe Starck and Yehudi Menuhin.
