Huf, Paul - foam: regie paul huf

The first two editions of Foam Magazine double as exhibition catalogues, this second issue is split into two sections. Photographers, amateur and professional, sent in their favourite photo anonymously, accompanied by an explanation as to why they thought it was their best. From all the submissions 150 photos were selected and displayed on lampposts in Vondelpark, to be on view all summer. A selection of these photos are included in this magazine along with the photographers' comments.

The other section of this issue is dedicated to the work Paul Huf, one of Holland's most celebrated photographers. This issue presents a selection of his fashion photos. Huf directed entire photo sessions, devising the concept, lighting, models and styling, featured are his staged photographs and images of his two favourite taken during the 60s.

Paul Huf is both an artist and a proffessional: a man for whom photography is a consuming passion. 'Highlights' pays tribute to his professionalism in 128 pages which contain photographs in color and black and white. The first of these photographs dates from 1936, and the last from 1994, providing an impressive story in pictures.

Paul Huf (born 1924) is in the Netherlands best-known photographer. In a long and active carrreer he has photographed inimerable people and situations. His images always bring out the beauty of his subjects, whether they are actors, writers, nude studies, landscapes or still-lifes. The 'world according to Paul Huf' is an attractive, pleasant place.

Paul Huf 'composes' his images with a marvelous feeling for detail and advertising campaigns. In 1965, he was the first photographer to be given permission to take fashion photographs in the Kremlin.

Paul Huf has also made films, including 'Adventure in Art' and documentation on the painter Carel Willink and on Dutch museums.

De eerste twee edities van Foam Magazine verdubbelen als tentoonstellingscatalogi, dit tweede nummer is opgesplitst in twee delen. Fotografen, amateur en professional, stuurden anoniem hun favoriete foto in, vergezeld van een uitleg waarom ze dachten dat dit hun beste was. Uit alle inzendingen zijn 150 foto's geselecteerd en getoond op lantaarnpalen in het Vondelpark, die de hele zomer te zien zijn. Een selectie van deze foto's is samen met het commentaar van de fotografen in dit magazine opgenomen.

Het andere deel van dit nummer is gewijd aan het werk van Paul Huf, een van Nederlands meest gevierde fotografen. Dit nummer presenteert een selectie van zijn modefoto's. Huf regisseerde hele fotosessies, waarbij hij het concept, de belichting, de modellen en de styling, te zien zijn.

Paul Huf is zowel een kunstenaar als een professional: een man voor wie fotografie een grote passie is. 'Highlights' is een eerbetoon aan zijn professionaliteit in 128 pagina's met foto's in kleur en zwart-wit.
