Jiří Jírů (born in Prague on July 30, 1946). His uncle, photographer Václav Jírů, aroused his interest in photography. The day before the August 1968 occupation, he went to Belgium, decided to stay there, and, after difficult beginnings, established himself as a photographer for prestigious American magazines. Among other things, he was sent to the USSR to capture the social changes in the country. In 1993, he became the personal photographer of President Václav Havel. He worked in this position for seven years and summarized photographs from this period in the book HAVEL. He was awarded the Italian Book Prize for the best photographic publication for it. In Prague, he founded the PhotoMuseum Jírů Museum of Photography in the house where he now has his studio. In 2017, he received a diploma of merit awarded by Prague. Today he lives alternately in Prague and Brussels and is engaged in photography.
