Mikhailov is known for many famous photo books. In addition to "Unfinished Dissertation," also for "By the Ground. Against the Twilight. Boris Mikhailov (born 1938), born in the former Soviet Union, lived and worked for several decades in his hometown of Kharkov, Ukraine. He was educated as an engineer and began to teach himself the practice of photography. Today he is one of the most successful and well-known photographers, who was already actively working in the Soviet era. His work is strongly influenced in the means of Concept-Art and Social-Documentary-Photography. At the end of the 1960s he had his first exhibition. After the KGB found nude photos of his wife, he quit his job as an engineer and began photography full time. He recorded a series of everyday scene documents.
