Ruigrok, Wim - Amsterdam stad in verandering

€ 17,50

The photos by Volkskrant photographer Wim Ruigrok tell the story of a city that is eternally in motion, constantly adapting to new times. We see the change of Amsterdam, from the early 1960s to the present, captured through Ruigrok's keen eye.
Ruigrok not only photographed the development of the day, but kept returning to the spots where progress rushed past, capturing a process of continuous change. Houses were demolished to make way for cars and thoroughfares, the metro, modern shopping plazas and further new construction. People are resigned to the process or take action, queue up for new homes and change along with the city.
Wim Ruigrok worked for de Volkskrant for almost forty years. In March 2002 he said goodbye to the newspaper with an exhibition of his Amsterdam photos in the architecture center Arcam.
Willem Ellenbroek, a colleague and friend for many years, wrote the text. With a foreword by Maarten Kloos
